Tom Gaudette at Mathworks has created support for the Finch robot in MATLAB. MATLAB is likely most familiar to many as a computing environment for engineering and science work, but you can also use it to create complex programs that take advantage of MATLAB's large set of built-in functions for computation, graphing, signal analysis, and more! With MATLAB, the potential for cross-disciplinary curricular applications is great; for example, one could have students write programs that collect accelerometer data and then analyze that data with MATLAB's tools. It's a perfect way to demonstrate that computational thinking and programming are skills required in all science, math, and engineering fields.
