Scala is a programming language which combines the functional and object-oriented paradigm. Scala runs on the Java Virtual Machine, making integration with the Finch's Java software package fairly straightforward.

Our Scala library uses the Finch Java library; you can use the methods described in our Javadocs. The docs cover the methods used to control the Finch, read Finch sensor data, read data from RSS feeds, grab image data from webcams, and control computer speakers.
After you have downloaded the Finch Scala package, follow the instructions for compiling and running programs.
Structure of the Package
The Finch Scala package contains the following folder
Source - Contains the finch.jar and FinchScalaExample.scala, a simple Finch program written in Scala.
javadocs - Documentation of the Finch and RSS Reader classes.
licenses - Location of the licensing details.
Version 1.0 of the Finch Scala package is now available and has been successfully tested on Windows XP 32-bit, Windows 7 64-bit, and Mac OS 10.6 with Scala 2.9.0.final.
